I lived in NYC for 9 yrs thru the 80s and this is where the Corn Flakes were born...mostly at that time with the help of Neil Thomas, Steve Antonakos & Joe Flood, and a
variety of sax players and drummers, we enjoyed some local success playing our original material, and were also a successful wedding and party band!...we were always something of a movable feast, both musically and personnel-wise, so when I moved back to Cambridge in 2001, since I liked the name so much I decided to keep it.........I soon enlisted some fine local help to the cause, most enduringly in the form of Pete Newman on saxes and various reed instruments, and Fabian Bonner on bass and general groove...
In the past several years Pete, Fabian and I have played a great number of pubs, clubs, and even a handful of festivals....an album we began in Aug 2007(!) should finally be available a little later this year...
We have also played at quite a number of weddings and private parties...I sing and play guitar or mandolin, Fabian plays bass and these days sings as well, and Pete plays saxes and clarinet...we have a wide repertoire that includes jazz, blues, rhythm and blues(old style!), funk, rock and roll, soul, and even a little country....we do not play modern pop music, but we do seem to make people of all ages dance....sometimes we work with a drummer, but manage very well without....we have from time to time worked with another guitar player, keyboardist, extra horn players, and singers, but the basic trio covers a lot of ground...
pricing is always difficult....we have been paid thousands, and have worked for next to nothing....each engagement is unique with its own list of requirements...should you or someone you know be interested in hiring us for any kind of event its best to email me and I'll get in touch and we can come to some arrangement or other!
